WWU trustees to discuss campus governance structure March 3

The Western Washington University Board of Trustees will hold a special meeting at 5 p.m. on Thursday, March 3, in a discussion with the Associated Students Board of Directors and the Faculty Senate president on the overall topic of “Governance at Western: Roles and Responsibilities.”

During the public meeting in Old Main 340, the trustees will hear a presentation by Faculty Senate President Molly Ware on faculty governance and the role and process of students in faculty agenda setting.

The topic of student governance, including prioritization and selection of the student agenda, communication and representation with campus governance organizations, will be discussed with the AS Board of Directors.

The role of trustees and the administration in hearing and engaging student voices will include discussion with the trustees, Western President Bruce Shepard, AS Board of Directors and Ware.

Shared governance of the university ensures representative campus involvement by organizations such as the Associated Students  and Faculty Senate.
