WWU faculty, students to share experiences from Africa travel

Western Washington University faculty, staff and students will share from their trips to Kenya to South Africa tonight during a leadership panel presented by Western Leadership Advantage. The presentations will take place from 6:30 to 8 p.m. today, Oct. 19, in Communications Facility Room 119.

This event is free and open to the public.

In their presentations, WLA members will share their answers to these pertinent questions:

  • How do we learn about ourselves, and ourselves as leaders, when we connect with non-governmental organizations and communities in Africa?
  • How can we apply these lessons to being in connection/community/working together in other continents and countries?
  • How does leading in Africa look the same as or different from leading in the United States?
  • How must we be and what must we do to be effective leaders and community members in other countries, for example in African countries?

Presenting will be Tim Costello, director of Service Learning at WWU, Vernon Damani Johnson, a WWU professor of political science, Kristi Tyran, an associate professor of management, and various students who took trips these countries.
