Western Hires Chris Roselli as the New Director for its Front Door to Discovery Program

Western Washington University has hired Chris Roselli as the new director for its Front Door to Discovery program.

The Front Door to Discovery office serves as a central point of contact between Western and the members of the community seeking collaborative opportunities. It provides a two-way pathway to greater awareness and connectivity to the resources available at Western and connects students and faculty to the assets available to them in the region and beyond. As the key point of contact, the director will build relationships, facilitate connections, coordinate strategy, and foster communication that builds lasting partnerships between the university and the community.

“We are so pleased that Chris will lead the efforts of the Front Door to Discovery and strengthen Western’s ties to Bellingham, Whatcom County, and the region as a whole,” said Steve Swan, Western’s vice president for University Relations and Community Development. “He’s a perfect fit for the job and is already a huge advocate for Western.”

Roselli graduated from Western in 1999 with a bachelor’s degree in Communication and has worked at Western since then. He served as an admissions counselor in the Office of Admissions for eight years, recruiting and retaining Western’s exceptional students, then spent nine years as a program director of Young Alumni and Student Programs in the University’s Alumni Association.

During his time at Western, he has worked on many programs and events that have benefited the university – from the annual spring Back2Bellingham celebration to this past fall’s first Paint B’ham Blue for WWU event for new students – while building lasting relationships in the community.

Roselli said he was eager to begin his new job and that he knew a huge part of his first few weeks in the office was going to be focused on listening.

“I have so many people to talk to, and I really just need to hear what they have to say and listen to what their needs are,” he said. “Once I’ve done that, I can begin to understand how Western can help them and then we can move forward. I can’t tell you how excited I am to get going.”
