Want to study in rural Kenya this summer? Attend the info session Jan. 25

Western Washington University and the Center for Service-Learning are offering a course on rural Kenya this summer. The class, “Kenya: Field Studies and Collaborative International Service-Learning,” will be held during the nine-week Summer Session 2011, including six weeks on the ground in rural Kenya.

An information session to present details of the program will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 25, in Communications Facility Room 227 on the WWU campus.

This faculty-led international service-learning program is in partnership with community-based organizations and schools in Kenya. Participation in the program will give students the opportunity to learn about the culture, politics and issues facing rural Kenya from and with local experts. Students also will deepen their understanding of their own majors through the development of an individualized study project that includes meaningful service.
