VIDEO: Students make promo video for Make.Shift

Students in the Bachelor of Fine Arts Program in the Department of Design at Western Washington University just finished up a promotional video for local non-profit Make.Shift Art Space.

They premiered the video in a presentation at Make.Shift during the Dec. 5 Art Walk downtown.

The students created this video during one of their BFA Workshops, working with local director Caleb Young of Hand Crank Films.

"The students were behind this production and development 100-percent, from research, concept, writing, storyboarding, art direction, organization, final shoot, to the editing," said Kacey Morrow, an associate professor of design at WWU. "They learned how to work as a team and produce a professional quality video through all stages of pre-production, production and post-production."

The project was also an opportunity for the students to learn how to use professional equipment donated by Hand Crank Films, including the Red Camera, various lenses, jib, dolly, track, live monitor display and Haze machine.

"Their final video highlights all aspects of this DIY art and music venue that is dedicated to innovative and alternative art and music," Morrow said. "Make.Shift now has a long-lasting video that can be used to promote and share what they do with a large audience."
