Retirement party for Lisa Wochos is June 18

Assistant Attorney General Lisa Wochos is retiring. She has served as Western legal advisor, providing counsel to the Board of Trustees, president, vice presidents, faculty and staff since 2001. She succeeded Wendy Bohlke as chief legal adviser for Western after Bohlke's retirement in 2013.

A special reception will be held in her honor from 3 to 5 p.m. Thursday, June 18, in the Old Main Solarium, Room 590. Reservations are required by Friday, June 12, to jennifer.sloan@wwu.edu or 360-650-3117.

Wochos' duties throughout the years have included providing education legal services at the State Attorney General’s Bellingham Regional Division, which includes WWU, Whatcom Community College, Bellingham Technical College and Skagit Valley College.

Wochos received her law degree from the University of Santa Clara School of Law, in Santa Clara, Calif. Since 2001, Wochos has served in the Attorney General’s Bellingham office, providing legal counsel to Western, Skagit Valley College and Whatcom Community College, as well as other state agencies. Wochos previously served in the Whatcom County Public Defender’s Office and, in California, as a Superior Court judge pro tem, in the Santa Cruz County Public Defender Law Office and in private practice. Wochos is active in many community activities, including as a corporate board member for the Boys & Girls Club of Whatcom County.
