'Power, Privilege and Oppression' teach-in is Friday

Part of a diversity teach-in series for the Western Washington University community, Woodring's fall teach-in will include presentations on aspects of identity, diversity and intersectionality by members of the Associated Student Body.

The faculty presenter will be the director of the Education and Social Justice Department, Veronica Velez, who is presenting on micro-aggressions and the power to name them. There will be small-group short discussions after the presentations; bring a friend as we learn together and grow as a united Western community.

This event is an important opportunity for students to contribute valuable insight into ways that our campus can better support and affirm all learners, in particular those from historically-marginalized communities.

Doors open at 8 a.m. and the event will start at 8:30 a.m. in the VU MPR. Beverages and snacks will be provided. Those in attendance will be entered into winning one of two $50 WWU Bookstore gift cards.

Bring a friend, a good attitude, and join us for a critical conversation!
