Western holds first MLK campus celebration

Western Washington University held its first annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Celebration Tuesday, Jan. 20, in the Wilson Library Reading Room.

The event was followed by a screening of the award-winning documentary "Brother Outsider: the Life of Bayard Rustin."

Featured speakers:

  • Annika Wolters, Associated Students president
  • Jordan Butler, Black Student Union president
  • Ted Pratt, dean of students
  • Rebecca Marrall, diversity and disability services librarian

Additionally, Darryl Brice, a sociology instructor at Highline Community College, will present "Bread & Circuses: Exploring the Legacy of the ‘Real’ Dr. Martin Luther King."

The events were sponsored by the WWU Division of Enrollment and Student Services and The President's Office.
