'Walk of Hope' starts at 7 p.m. on Thursday in the VU MPR

Join the campus community on Nov. 17 at 7 p.m. in the Viking Union Multipurpose Room for the annual Walk of Hope. To Write Love on Her Arms is partnering with several campus organizations to host the event, including the Counseling Center, BRAVE (Western’s Suicide Prevention Program), Western’s Men’s Resiliency Program, and NAMI on Campus.

Organizers hope to raise awareness of the increase in suicide on college campuses. Information on how to access trainings on warning signs of someone who is depressed and contemplating suicide will be provided along with information on signs of depression and anxiety. The Walk of Hope creates a space where the community can help break down the stigmas surrounding depression and suicide. Student and staff speakers will share how suicide has personally affected their lives to inspire hope in the community. Together, participants will walk through campus as a way to raise awareness of the issues surrounding suicide and mental health.

This event is free and open to the public.
