Industrial designer David Wykes to speak Nov. 13

Western Washington University’s Department of Design will host a presentation by industrial designer David Wykes at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 13, in Fraser Hall Room 4.

The presentation is free and open to the public.

Wykes currently works as a creative director at TEAGUE, a design consulting firm in Seattle. He works across disciplines to develop stories and solutions, works with design teams to produce content and designs products for clients ranging from medical to consumer-packaged goods.

Wykes studied in the Design for Industry program at Northumbria University in the United Kingdom, where he was awarded the Royal Society of Art and Industry Student Award. After graduating with honors, Wykes worked at the London-based design firm Product and Service Design Innovation Consultancy. His client list there included Braun, AT&T, Philips Medical and Yoplait. After PDD, Wykes moved to the United States and co-founded Pioneer Studios, a short-lived Microsoft incubation lab in downtown Seattle.

He has won numerous awards for his work with clients such as Nike, Hewlett-Packard, Samsung, Boeing, Starbucks, Panasonic, Microsoft and SC Johnson.
