Dead Parrots Society places fourth in nation among 136 teams

Dead Parrots Society, Western Washington University’s student improve troupe, took fourth place overall in the national round of the College Improv Tournament. After winning the Northwest Regional on Jan. 18, DPS was one of 16 teams to compete at the Vittum Theatre in Chicago on March 1.

The Western group placed first among four teams in its preliminary round and advanced as one of four teams to the final round. This is the fourth year in a row that Dead Parrots Society has competed in the national round, and the third time they’ve made it home with a trophy from the final round.

The annual tournament is run by Chicago Improv Productions, a group responsible for both the College Improv Tournament and the Chicago Improv Festival.

The Dead Parrots Society is an Associated Students club that performs improvisational comedy regularly on WWU’s campus and across the Pacific Northwest. Rehearsals are open to all students from 8 to 10 p.m. every Tuesday in Humanities Building Room 110.
