CBE students place second at Seattle competition

A team of accounting majors from Western Washington University's College of Business and Economics placed second at the KPMG/Seattle University Case Competition on Saturday, April 5, at Seattle University.

The Case Competition gives students the opportunity to apply accounting and business knowledge in an team setting to solve real-world accounting and business questions – the case closely resembled Facebook’s recent purchase of WhatsApp. Student teams from Boise State University, Central Washington University, Oregon State University, Seattle University, University of Alaska-Fairbanks, University of Oregon, University of Portland and University of Washington were given three hours in the morning to prepare a solution and PowerPoint presentation; the afternoon was devoted to the presentations.

WWU’s team of Jacob Anderson (Othello), Katherine Bareman (Lynden), Tarina Evanger (Bothell) and Kristia Peschka (Vancouver, Wash.) presented their solution to partners and managers from KPMG in Seattle. Placing second, they were awarded $1,500.
