Marie Eaton retires after nearly 40 years at Western

Marie Eaton retired at the end of spring quarter.

She served in various roles at Western Washington University since she arrived nearly 40 years ago:

  • 2000 to 2015: Professor of Humanities and Education, Fairhaven College
  • 2006: Acting Dean, Fairhaven College of Interdisciplinary Studies
  • 2001 to 2003: Faculty Fellow, General Education Reform Project
  • 1989 to 2000: Dean, Fairhaven College
  • 1993 to 1994: Interim Vice-President for Student Affairs and Dean for Academic Support Services
  • 1992 to 1993: Interim Vice-President for Student Affairs
  • 1987 to 1989 Associate Dean, School of Education
  • 1983 to 1987: Chair, Department of Curriculum and Instruction, Woodring College
  • 1983: Full Professor, Woodring College of Education
  • 1975 to 2015: Faculty, Western Washington University
