Live, online discussion to be held Thursday with reporters of 'Spotlight' fame

Western Washington University's Student Chapter of SPJ is holding an online discussion of the film “Spotlight” on July 7.

The discussion will be streamed live from the Knight program at Stanford. It features Michael Rezendes, a member of the Boston Globe Spotlight team, and Walter Robinson, of the Boston Globe, both of whom played prominent roles in the film. The discussion also will include investigative reporters from the Associated Press and International Consortium of Investigative Journalists, who achieved unprecedented impact with their reporting on the Panama Papers and “Seafood from Slaves.”

The event will take place from 2 to 4 p.m. on Thursday, July 7, in Communications Facility Room 115. Questions may be submitted via Twitter during the event.

The discussion will focus on the impact of investigative reporting, past successes and the kind of innovations that will enable it to thrive in the future.
