Introduction to Communication and Public Speaking College Quest

Event Description: High school and middle school students across the country from WWU’s College Quest Program, will be on campus for the week to gain college experience. These 9th, 10th, and 11th grade students are currently taking Introduction to Communication and Public Speaking 100. Each student will learn how to develop a speech from beginning to end. The students will deliver an open mic presentation in the form of a TED Talk about a current social justice issue in America. This year’s theme is #thestruggleisreal. Each student will present the problem they are passionate about changing and provide solutions. Throughout this program, students learn public speaking and how to build their self-concept by strongly engaging with the course theme of social justice/social change.

What? You are invited to attend our TED Ted-like Final Presentations by High School and Middle Students.

When? June 28; 1:15 p.m.-2:30 p.m.

Where? The Underground Coffeehouse on the third floor of the Viking Union at WWU campus.

Why? Support youths to pursue a higher education, a passion for social justice and social change toward a better America and community.
