WTA to offer half-price fares to veterans; cost of 80X pass to increase

In the new year, Whatcom Transportation Authority will reduce bus fares for military veterans and raise the price of the monthly pass for the express to Mount Vernon.

The WTA Board of Directors in December approved a 50 percent discount for veterans with proof of military service — a veteran’s medical ID card or discharge papers. A single ride will cost 50 cents, and a $25 monthly pass is discounted to $13.
