UNI seeking a new group of peer institutions

Officials at Iowa’s smallest public university are seeking a new peer group to compare the institution against academically, fiscally and administratively.

For more than 20 years, the University of Northern Iowa has bench-marked itself against a group of 10 largely regional public universities when looking for comparisons in faculty pay, budgets, student-to-faculty ratio, fundraising and countless other metrics. After a year-long review process, university officials are asking the Iowa Board of Regents to approve a new list of schools that they say will prove better matches in terms of UNI’s size and mission.
