Gov. orders flags at half-staff for Pearl Harbor Day

Gov. Chris Gregoire has directed that flags at all Washington state agency facilities be lowered to half-staff Monday, Dec. 7, for National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day.

Other government entities, citizens and businesses are encouraged to join this recognition.

National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day was created by Congress in 1994 in honor of those Americans killed, missing or injured as a result of the attack on Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7, 1941.

The Dec. 7 flag lowering is concurrent with the governor’s Dec. 1 directive to lower flags until close of business Tuesday, Dec. 8, for the Lakewood police officers.
