Former CEO David E. Garets to speak on campus May 3

Western Washington University’s College of Business and Economics will host a presentation by David Garets as part of its Strategic Management Executive Strategy Speaker Series at 3 p.m. on May 3 in Western’s Communication Facility room 115.

The presentation is free and open to the public.

Garets is an internationally recognized healthcare information executive with 36 years experience in information technology (IT) management.

As a senior advisor at The Advisory Board Company, Garets assists with the Health Care IT Suite, which includes the Applications and Technologies Collaborative, the Global eHealth Executive Council, the IT Strategy Council and the Meaningful Use Navigator programs. He is also a principal member at Mountain Summit Advisors, which provides recapitalization/financing and consulting services to private healthcare IT firms.

Garets has served as president and CEO of HIMSS Analytics, executive vice president of HIMSS and has held executive positions at Healthlink, Inc., Gartner, Inc. and as an experienced healthcare CIO.

Garets earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in Marketing from Texas Tech University.

Western’s College of Business and Economics Strategic Management Executive Strategy Speaker Series program brings senior business leaders to campus to interact with students and share their perspectives on strategic management, leadership, and professional development. The Speaker Series is presented by the CBE’s Center for Excellence in Management Education.
