Ethnic Student Center to host Multicultural Center ‘Student Groundbreaking Ceremony’ April 20

Western Washington University’s Ethnic Student Center will host the “Multicultural Center Student Groundbreaking Ceremony: Honoring Place and Student Leadership of the Past, Present and Future” from 3-5 p.m. on Friday, April 20 in the Performing Arts Center Plaza.

Students, faculty, staff and local community leaders are coming together to celebrate the groundbreaking of the Multicultural Center to support the shared vision of Western’s commitment to a just, caring and diverse campus. Light refreshments will be available, and the event is free and open to the public.

The Multicultural Center is a project to create a new home for the Ethnic Student Center and three centers under AS Resource and Outreach Programs. The expansion will combine the Multicultural Center, Viking Union, Bookstore, Multipurpose Room and KUGS within one building that honors and supports our growing diverse population and engages the campus to better understand multiple cultures.

Completion of the Multicultural Center is scheduled for June 2019. For more information on the event, contact Jeff Bates at jeff.bates@wwu.edu.
