Degree Works training sessions now available

The Registrar’s Office is offering six hands-on training session for Degree Works, a new web based tool designed to help students and advisors track students’ academic progress toward the completion of their degree or certificate.

These hands-on training sessions are designed for advisors, faculty, and staff who will use Degree Works — Western's new degree audit system — in communication with students. Session participants will learn the basics of using the degree audit system from viewing and interpreting a student's audit to assisting students plan ahead for courses to complete their program requirements.

Similar to the current CAPP degree audit, Degree Works will provide students and advisors with an organized and on-demand degree plan evaluation. Degree Works aims to help students progress through their degree plan efficiently. Students will use the new system to track academic progress toward a degree, review the requirements they have completed, and plan the courses they can take to complete remaining requirements.

Session participants will learn how to access Degree Works, find students in the system, run and interpret student degree audits, use the "What If" and "Look Ahead" features, create student “Plans”, and understand how to use the GPA calculators within Degree Works. All training sessions will provide the same content, so participants need only to sign up for one of the available sessions.
