Charles McCarthy to speak in Strategic Management Executive Speaker Series July 13

Western Washington University’s College of Business and Economics will play host to Charles McCarthy, retired senior vice president at Southern California Edison, as part of its Strategic Management Executive Strategy Speaker Series from 2 to 3 p.m. Friday, July 13, in Parks Hall Room 104 on campus.

The presentation is free and open to the public.

McCarthy has more than 40 years of experience in the energy industry. After his seven years as an officer in the nuclear submarine service, he spent 23 years at Southern California Edison. As senior vice president, he led strategic planning initiatives and was responsible for Research and Development, customer service and power plant management. McCarthy has a bachelor’s degree from the U.S. Naval Academy and a master's degree in business administration from California State University at Fullerton. McCarthy is an active community volunteer with the Smithsonian Institute and the Service Corps of Retired Executives.

The Western CBE Strategic Management Executive Strategy Speaker Series program brings senior business leaders to campus to interact with students and share their perspectives on strategic management, leadership and professional development. The Speaker Series is presented by the CBE’s Center for Excellence in Management Education.
