Carver construction: Updates for the week of Nov. 22

During the week of Nov. 22, the following items will be underway:

  • Continue demolition of Gym D.
  • Continue storm sewer site work.
  • Continue “pin” pile installation. Noise will be similar to periodic jackhammering.
  • Continue drilling “micro” piles in central corridor & begin in east section. Expect equipment noise and diesel fumes. Noise will be similar or less in intensity as previous demolition noise. First phase of piling scheduled to be complete late December/early January.
  • Roof abatement at south “eyebrow” of Gym C overhang tentatively scheduled for Nov. 23, 24 and 25. All required precautions & regulations to protect workers & campus community will be followed. Monitoring and quality control for safety will be done by a third party.

Next week:

  • Complete demolition of Gym D.
  • Complete storm sewer site work.
  • Excavate and begin forming pile caps and installing, reinforcing and placing concrete for utilidor (utility tunnel for electrical systems).
  • Continue “micro” pile drilling in central corridor & east section. “Micro” pile drilling is not as loud as “pin” pile driving.
  • Noise, odors, dust, truck traffic, vibrations.

NOTE: During “dead week” and final’s week there will be no “pin” pile driving or concrete breaking.
