Carver construction: Gyms continue to be demolished this week

Carver construction activities for week of Oct. 25:

  • Continue demolition of gymnasiums A, C and D.
  • Demolition (cutting) of the oak flooring in the weight room; this may create non-hazardous odors and smoke on the west side of Carver.
  • Continue grading and filling central corridor.
  • Continue storm sewer site work:
    • Excavate trench for pipe
    • Remove excavated material (dump trucks in use from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.)
    • Accept deliveries of gravel fill
  • Continued noise, dust, truck traffic and vibrations.

Next week’s activities:

  • Complete demolition of Gym C.
  • Continue demolition of gyms A and D.
  • Complete grading and filling of central corridor.
  • Continue storm sewer site work.
  • Other activities that create noise, dust, truck traffic and vibrations.
  • Begin testing drilled piles and first phase of piling.
    • Drilled piles (auger cast piles) do not generate the loud hammering, vibrating energy that driven piling generates. Noise will be similar in intensity to previous demolition noise.
    • Twenty percent of piling will involve short pin-driven piling that will create noise similar to the concrete breaking equipment noise experienced during demolition.
    • First phase of piling scheduled to be complete late December/early January.
  • Second phase of piling scheduled to begin early February and be complete in mid-March.
