AS Executive Board and Student Senate candidate filing has been extended to May 15

ASWWU Elections are fast approaching, and the filing deadline for all AS Executive Board and Senate Positions has been extended to Sunday, May 15, at 4 p.m.

These positions are essential for student representation, and it is critical to fill these positions with capable student leaders who can represent and advocate for Western students.

Filing for both the ASWWU Executive Board and Student Senate is now underway with an extended the deadline due to a low candidate pool. Currently, a majority of positions are unopposed for the ASWWU Executive Board, and only 19 students have filed for ASWWU Senate, with the Graduate School, College of Fine & Performing Art, and College of the Environment in urgent need of candidates.

If elected, students will serve from Summer Quarter 2022 to Spring Quarter 2023. These positions are paid $17.70 an hour and student representatives will have the ability to advocate for student issues and make a difference.

The Executive Board focuses on issues related to sustainability, housing, governmental affairs and student activities. The Student Senate focuses on college governance and matters related to academic affairs. Both governing bodies are committed to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives in their respective domains. The AS President and Senate President work approximately 25 hours per week and all other Executive Board positions work approximately 19 hours per week.
