AmeriCorps panel discussion set for May 7

Western Washington University’s Career Services Center is holding a panel discussion May 7 for students and graduates interested in exploring opportunities with AmeriCorps.

The panel, "AmeriCorps: an insider’s guide to everything you need to know," will take place from 4 to 5:30 p.m. in Viking Union Room 552. Panelists include current AmeriCorps members who are working in a variety of programs.

AmeriCorps offers thousands of opportunities to graduates who seek meaningful professional experience in nonprofit and government organizations nationwide. Job assignments include community development, environmental protection, public safety, housing, youth development, and more.  Panelists at this event will be sharing insights and expert advice to help students:

  • Learn more about the experience and benefits
  • Find out if AmeriCorpsis the right fit
  • Get the inside scoop on the application process

Panelists include:

  • Sarah Dorfler, Americorps VISTA Project Coordinator, Western Washington University
  • Cassidy Mills, Americorps Food Educator, Common Threads Farm, Bellingham
  • Heather Johnson, Americorps FEMA Corps, currently based in Bothell
  • Meg Stuckey, Americorps, FEMA Corps, currently based in Lynnwood
