WWU's Window Magazine wins trio of awards at recent CASE conference

Western Washington University's Window Magazine, produced by the Office of Communications and Marketing and edited by Mary Gallagher, recently won three awards at the CASE Region VIII conference in Vancouver, B.C.

The magazine, which competes against publications from universities throughout the Pacific Northwest and Western Canada regardless of size, won a Bronze award for an illustration of Old Main done in dry-erase markers by WWU student Brandon Doak (see image at right) for the cover of the Summer 2018 issue.

The Office of Communications and Marketing's John Thompson also win a pair of Silver Awards for "Alaska Stories," about WWU Journalism alumna, novelist and Pulitzer-Prize finalist Eowyn Ivey; and for "Megafire: Strategies for Fighting a Growing Threat to the West," about Huxley's Michael Medler, a former wildlands firefighter who studies pyrogeography and the rising impact of summer fire seasons on the Pacific Northwest.

The current issue of window tells the story of the university through 125 objects; see it here.
