WWU's International Affairs Association, Poli Sci department to co-host 'The Trump Effect: How to Lose an Ally in 10 Days' on May 22
The International Affairs Association at Western will host a special panel event titled “The Trump Effect: How to Lose an Ally in 10 Days,” covering recent shifts in U.S. foreign policy, from 4-5:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 22 in Fraser Hall 101.
Featuring professors Amir Abedi from Western’s Political Science Department, Allen Sens from the University of British Columbia, and Denis Trapido from the University of Washington-Bothell and the Kyiv School of Economics, this event will explore the ways in which our international alliances are changing. With expertise in the Canadian-, European-, and Ukrainian-American relationships, these experienced panelists will delve into how Trump’s new foreign policy is transforming America’s orientation towards NATO, Russia, and its global partners.
Event organizers hope that participants will raise important questions about foreign policy decision-making and how impactful actions in D.C. affect everyday life, stimulating valuable discussions about the power of partnerships, trust, and policy.
The discussion will be complemented by light refreshments and snacks. Students can reach the International Affairs Association at outreach@wwuiaa.com for more information. This event is co-sponsored by Western's Political Science Department.
