WWU's Facing the Future releases second edition of “Global Sustainability Issues” curriculum

Facing the Future, developer of global sustainability curricula for educators around the world and a program of Western Washington University, has published its second edition of “Global Sustainability Issues” for students in grades 6-8.

“Global Sustainability Issues” serves as a both a complementary resource when teaching core subjects and a stand-alone global issues and sustainability course.

The second edition brings a name change from the former “Global Issues and Sustainable Solutions” published in 2004, as well as updated data and coverage of climate change, population growth and biodiversity.

“The new edition also includes three case studies and discussion questions at the end of each chapter for students to further develop their thinking about sustainability issues,” said Dr. Grace Wang, author of the second edition.

Wang serves as an associate professor of Environmental Studies at Western Washington University where she teaches courses in environmental policy, sustainability and natural resources. She received a bachelor's degree in Political Economy of Natural Resources from the University of California, Berkeley, as well as a master's degree and doctorate in Forestry from the University of Minnesota.

Facing the Future is an organization that supports educators in their task of providing students the skills, tools and perspectives to become fulfilled human beings, responsible global citizens, and effective stewards of a sustainable future.
