WWU Youth Programs to Offer Anacortes Early Release Program this Winter

Western Washington University Youth Programs will offer an early release program for students in grades K-6 this winter.

The program will be held Monday, Feb. 13 through Thursday, Feb. 16, from noon to 3 p.m. at Island View Elementary.

Students will explore hands-on science and art activities. Topics include scientific illustration and marine biology.

Participants will discover the art of scientific illustration while observing the natural world and learning how to record it on paper with pencil, ink and watercolor. Through marine biology, students will explore what it’s like to be part of an ocean food web and practice becoming marine biologists.

Students are asked to bring a healthy snack, water bottle and a curious mind.

Anacortes Early Release Enrichment is provided by Western Washington University Youth Programs in partnership with the Anacortes School District and Shannon Point Marine Center.
