WWU, Whatcom Community College sign transfer agreement

Western Washington University has signed a guaranteed transfer admission agreement with Whatcom Community College, allowing WCC students to more easily move into a four-year degree path at WWU.

Under this agreement, students who complete a Direct Transfer Agreement (DTA) degree or an Associate in Science – Transfer (AS-T) degree with a minimum 2.5 GPA will be guaranteed admission to Western.

Similar agreements are currently under review with Skagit Valley College and Everett Community College. The University is also in the early stages of discussions with Seattle Colleges and Bellevue College.

WWU Vice Provost Robert Squires said the agreement with WCC, and work to complete similar agreements across the region, will strengthen the pathways for students at those schools to take the next step in their educational journey at Western.

“These agreements strengthen our partnerships with community colleges and improve transfer pathways by allowing Western to communicate directly with eligible students about their admission. They reflect our continued commitment to expanding access to four-year degrees across the region," said Squires.
