WWU website getting a new look; launches Sept. 15

Western’s website is getting a refresh for the first time in about seven years, with a modernized theme designed to improve both style and usability.

This theme update is part of ongoing efforts to keep Western’s digital presence fresh, accessible, and user-friendly for students, faculty, staff, and visitors.

The new design will launch on the WWU homepage and the WWU Foundation site on Monday, Sept. 15.

Starting on Sept. 22, site managers will have the option to switch their own sites to the updated theme early. Full rollout to all primary university sites will follow in early fall, with all remaining sites transitioning by Dec. 15.

The updated theme features:

  • A contemporary look and feel
  • An updated menu structure for easier navigation
  • A new “megafooter” designed by local hydrascape artist Gretchen Leggitt

A full outline of this update can be found in the theme's changelog.

How to opt in early:
If your college or department is ready to use the new theme, ask your web manager to complete this form to get started.
