WWU to Offer New Minor in Holocaust and Genocide Studies Starting Fall 2019
Western Washington University’s Ray Wolpow Institute for the Study of the Holocaust, Genocide, and Crimes Against Humanity will offer a new minor in Holocaust and Genocide Studies starting in fall 2019.
Advising for this new minor will start May 1.
The new minor at Western includes courses from six different disciplines and two colleges, and combines historical understanding with a cross-disciplinary exploration of both the Holocaust and genocide.
The minor will prepare students to be successful and engaged members of society and will enable them to learn the tools needed to work in and across disciplines to identify and creatively solve key societal problems, both local and global.
The minor will officially be launched with a public talk in October by Jim Waller of Keene State College, a widely recognized scholar in the field of Holocaust and Genocide Studies.
Western is the first public university in the state to offer such a minor.
