WWU to honor student employee of the year April 13 during National Student Employment Week

The Western Washington University campus community is invited to honor each of the university's Student Employee of the Year nominees at the annual recognition reception from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 13, in Viking Union Room 565. The WWU Student Employment Center received an impressive 29 nominations this year from departments across campus.

Western Washington University employs more than 2,000 students each academic year. These student employees contribute to the academic and extra-curricular aspects that makes Western such an excellent place to educate students. Not only do the students help keep Western functioning, but the combined contributions of mentors, supervisors and peers help WWU students enter the workforce as better prepared employees.

Every year, the National Student Employment Association declares the second full week in April to be National Student Employment Week. Again in 2010, Western Washington University will join in this national celebration.

Student employee supervisors and co-workers are encouraged to celebrate this week and take a few moments to recognize the work of their student employees. A few ideas for recognition are located on the Student Employment Center's Web site.
