BELLINGHAM - Western Washington University’s Department of Theatre Arts will present “Inspecting Carol,” at 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 10-13, Dec.15-18 and at 2 p.m. on Dec. 19 on the PAC Mainstage.

Written by Daniel J. Sullivan, produced by the Seattle Repertory Theatre, and directed by WWU Theatre Instructor Patrick Dizney, “Inspecting Carol” is a holiday romp that follows a fictitious playhouse as they remount their annual production of Dickens' “A Christmas Carol.”  Along comes a would-be performer whom everyone mistakes as a National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) financial grant inspector. The NEA is the nation's largest annual funder of the arts so the members of the playhouse find themselves trying to prove they deserve funding.  The wide range of community members pull together a show that falls apart at the seams and farcical hilarity ensues.

Dizney and the designers have created a show that aims to have the audience feel like they are sitting in on a rehearsal of “A Christmas Carol” with the actors.  From wacky characters to collapsing set pieces, everything that could go wrong does.  “Inspecting Carol” spreads holiday cheer and is a family friendly play for audiences of all ages.

Tickets are available through the WWU Box Office and cost $12 for general admission; $10 for seniors, WWU faculty and staff; and $8 for students.
