WWU’s Small Business Development Center Co-Sponsoring ‘Export to Canada’ Seminar on Sept.12

Western Washington University’s Small Business Development Center (SBDC) is partnering with the Export Finance Assistance Center & the Port of Bellingham to bring a half-day “Export to Canada” training seminar to Bellingham from 1-4 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 12 at the Squalicum Boathouse, 2600 Harbor Loop in Bellingham.

This free seminar is designed to show Washington State businesses how to become successful exporting their goods and services to the Canadian market. While there is no cost to attend, registration is required; to register, contact Zara Castillo at zara.castillo@efacw.org.

Topics to be discussed at the seminar include:

  • Why you should consider exporting to Canada
  • State and Federal export promotion services
  • Delivery options and documentation requirements
  • Tariffs and Taxes
  • Crossing the border – shipping goods
  • Crossing the border – business trips
  • NAFT benefits and documentation

Speakers at the seminar will be Sharon Sappington, SBDC Western Washington Export Center; Bob Deane, U.S. Commercial Service; Cheryl Schell, Government of Canada; and Tom Roehl, professor of Management in the College of Business and Economics at Western Washington University.
