WWU’s Small Business Development Center Co-Sponsoring a Free Workshop on Social Media Strategies for Small Businesses and Nonprofits July 27

Western Washington University’s Small Business Development Center (SBDC) is partnering with SCORE and Constant Contact to host a free social media for small business and nonprofits workshop from 9 a.m. to noon on Wednesday, July 27 at Gateway Centre Executive Suites, 1313 E Maple St. #201, in Bellingham.

This seminar will give you a closer look at the popular social media networks – Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest, and Google, and show you the benefits of using each, how other organizations are marketing with them, and some do's and don’ts of each channel.

Key concepts that will be covered:

  • An overview of the the most popular networks including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Pinterest - and Facebook's big change to business pages
  • Discover which of these networks is best for your business, and why
  • Why all of your "Likes" won't see all of your posts
  • How to save valuable time by posting to Facebook, Twitter and others all at the same time
  • What Google wants you to do to earn page rank
  • How to find "fresh" content for your posts to please Facebook and Google
  • Why you should have a blog in order to earn Google's attention
  • Scheduling your posts and tweets for a whole week in less than 30-minutes
  • What it means to "boost" a Facebook post or "Promote" your FB page
  • How to know if your website is "mobile friendly" and why that's important
  • Why your email list can be a gold mine, and how to build it
  • How to integrate your social media campaigns and Constant Contact to maximize your online marketing effectiveness
  • Great tips for email marketing etiquette and effectiveness

 

This workshop is most suitable for the beginner-to-comfortable small-business marketer who wants to learn about the positive impact of social media marketing campaigns, and others who might be looking for new ideas or a quick refresher. Please note that attendance is free but space is limited and registration is required.
