WWU launches new one-stop Scholarship Portal

Western launched its new WWU Scholarship Portal on April 9, providing a simpler, centralized system for students to apply for WWU scholarships.

The new portal allows students to complete a single application and be matched with scholarships they qualify for in the 2025-2026 academic year. This is valid for current students at all levels.

How the portal will work for students:

  • Complete one application – Fill out a single application instead of multiple applications across campus.
  • Get automatically matched – The system identifies scholarships for you based on your qualifications and answers to questions and essays.
  • Track and manage applications – View deadlines, requirements, and updates in one place.

By centralizing the process, the university aims to improve efficiency in awarding scholarships and ensure funds are distributed more effectively.

“This new system is designed to remove barriers and ensure that students can easily access funding opportunities that support their education,” said Brad Johnson, WWU provost and executive vice president. “By centralizing scholarships, we’re not only making the process more transparent and student-friendly, but we’re also ensuring that financial aid is distributed more equitably and efficiently.

“Many scholarships go unawarded simply because students aren’t aware they exist or because the application process is too complex. This new portal simplifies that by matching students with all the scholarships they qualify for, helping more students benefit from available funding. Our goal is to ensure that every dollar set aside for scholarships is put to use for our students,” he said.

The WWU Scholarship Portal opens April 9 and will remain open to student applications for scholarships for the 2025-2026 academic year through 11:59 p.m. (PDT), on Sunday, May 4
