WWU German program co-sponsors Women in German conference Nov. 4-7

Western's German program, in the Department of Modern & Classical Languages, is one of six university co-sponsors of this year’s virtual “Women in German” conference, held Nov. 4-7.

The conference's online keynote address will be given by award-winning Berlin-based author and activist Sharon Dodua Otoo, who will present a reading from her first novel, "Adas Raum," followed by a graduate student-led discussion of her texts.

Founded in 1974, the Coalition of Women in German (WiG) “provides a democratic forum for all people interested in feminist approaches to German literature and culture or in the intersection of gender with other categories of analysis such as sexuality, class, race, and ethnicity. Through its annual conference, panels at national professional meetings, and through the publication of the Feminist German Studies, the organization promotes feminist scholarship of outstanding quality.” To learn more about the conference program and to register, visit the WiG conference website. Registration for students is free.
