WWU contribution toward employee PEBB benefits increase this month

Starting July 1, 2010 (fiscal year 2011), Western Washington University's monthly contribution toward employees' Public Employees Benefits Board (PEBB) benefits will increase from $745 to $850 per eligible employee for fiscal year 2010-2011. These rates were established in the 2010 supplemental operating budget (ESSB 6444.PL, Section 906) and cover benefits under the PEBB program.

The PEB Board, created within the Washington State Health Care Authority, has the following authority in regard to employee benefits at WWU:

  • Setting eligibility requirements
  • Approving premium contributions for eligible employees (these may vary for employees of K-12 school districts and certain employer groups)
  • Approving benefits of all participating health insurance plans

Employee monthly contributions will remain unchanged until Jan. 2011. Employees will be notified of upcoming changes for Open Enrollment 2010, which occurs in November, via mail by PEBB and e-mail from WWU Benefits Services.

As always, if you have any questions regarding your WWU benefits, please feel free to contact Human Resources at benefits@wwu.edu or via phone at (360) 650-3774.
