WWU College of Business and Economics to Host Alex Morrison for Strategic Management Executive Speaker Series

BELLINGHAM – Western Washington University’s College of Business and Economics will host Alex Morrison for its Strategic Management Executive Strategy Speaker Series from 3-4 p.m. on Friday, Nov.19. in Communications Building Room 120 (CF120) on the WWU campus. 

The presentation is free and open to the public.

Morrison is a retired vice president and chief financial officer of Franco-Nevada Corp., with extensive knowledge of mining operations and the precious-metals industries.  Prior to joining Franco-Nevada, Morrison served in various executive positions at Newmont Mining Corp., including vice president of Information Technology, vice president of Operations Services, and group executive - Internal Audit.  Also, Morrison was vice president and controller of Homestake Mining Co., assistant controller at Phelps Dodge Corp., and controller at Stillwater Mining Co.  In addition, he spent 12 years in the Global Mining Group of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP.  

Morrison holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Trinity Western University and is both a CA and CPA.

The WWU College of Business and Economics Strategic Management Executive Strategy Speaker Series program brings senior business leaders to campus to interact with students and share their perspectives on strategic management, leadership, and professional development.  The Speaker Series is presented by the CBE’s Center for Excellence in Management Education.
