WWU Announces New Women’s Entrepreneurial Leadership Certificate Program with the University of Washington

Western Washington University’s Professional and Continuing Education (PCE) team, in partnership with the University of Washington, will offer a noncredit Certificate in Women’s Entrepreneurial Leadership (WEL) program this upcoming academic year.

Taught by Artemis Connection CEO and Western alumna Christy M. Johnson, the WEL program is designed for women who want to start or operate their own business or become workplace leaders. Through an innovative approach including traditional instruction and female mentorship from a team of project coaches, the certificate provides participants insight into designing a business model, essential skills for budgeting and forecasting, strategies for proposal pitching and more. The two-quarter program is hosted virtually fall 2021 and will meet in-person winter 2022, with convenient weekend class times.

WEL graduate Lorena Soriano started taking classes while she was launching her own business.

“You learn on Saturday and you’re implementing on Monday, which was absolutely amazing,” said Soriano, the founder of Isoline Consulting and the co-founder and co-CEO of the nonprofit Global Girls Give.

Western looks forward to a continued partnership with the University of Washington offering the WEL certificate and hopes to find additional opportunities to expand collaboration in professional and continuing education. For more information on the WEL program, visit https://pce.wwu.edu/programs/womens-entrepreneurial-leadership-certificate
