WWU alum to show documentary film about young adults with cancer Oct. 7 in Bellingham

Western Washington University alumnus Fred Sprinkle, along with a collection of local filmmakers, will show his full-length documentary film "Wrong Way to Hope - A Story of Young Adults with Cancer" at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 7, at the Mt. Baker Theater in Bellingham.

Tickets cost $10 and are available online at http://www.handsonfilms.com.

In the film, which is set against the dramatic backdrop of the Owyhee River gorge deep in the southeast Oregon desert, a group of young adults embark on an expedition of a lifetime, made more significant by the fact that the core expedition members are all survivors of cancer. Led by 25-year-old survivor Mike Lang, this inspirational group of survivors share their personal stories and delve into the unique issues that face young adults with cancer as together they battle a completely new set of trials on the river.

The result is an extraordinary journey of intense emotional and physical challenges combined with a rare insight into the lives of one of Canada's most under-served and unrecognized populations.
