Western's Youth Programs Announces 2020 Spring Programs

Western Washington University Youth Programs is offering four programs this spring on the Bellingham main campus.

The programs include Computer Science Club, KNOW (Kids Night Out at Western), GEMS (Girls in Engineering, Math and Science) Night Out and GEMS Academy. Each program allows students of different ages to participate in a range of hands-on activities, engaging lessons and group activity time.

KNOW takes place on two dates. The first is titled All About Fossils on Friday, April 17, and the second is Spring in the Forest on Friday, May 8. Each session is $50 per student and runs from 6-9 p.m.

GEMS Night Out program is for girls grades 3-8 on Friday, April 24. The event focuses on getting girls interested in engineering, math and science and costs $50 per student. GEMS Academy is on Saturday, May 16 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. and costs $65 per student. The event promotes empowerment for girls in grades 5-8 to explore STEM fields alongside Western students and professionals.

Computer Science Club is for middle school students in grades 6-8 and includes seven weekly meetings, every Saturday starting April 18 and ending June 6, 2020. Participants discover the fundamentals of technology in a creative, student-driven and social club environment. The cost for this program is $220 per student.

Registration for each spring program is available online and closes the Sunday before the program starts. Registration for summer Youth Programs is also open!
