Western to Host Economist Edward Alden May 8

Edward Alden, the Bernard L. Schwartz senior fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR), will speak on Trans-Pacific Partnership, North American Free Trade Agreement and Trade Policy in the Trump Administration from 4-5 p.m. on Monday, May 8 in Parks Hall 441.

This event, sponsored by Border Policy Research Institute and the Center for International Business, is free and open to the public.

Alden, specializing in U.S. economic competitiveness, is the author of a new book, “Failure to Adjust: How Americans Got Left Behind in the Global Economy.” The book focuses on the federal government’s failure to respond effectively to competitive challenges on issues such as trade, currency, worker retraining programs, education and infrastructure.
