Western on the Peninsulas to Partner with Washington State University and the City of Poulsbo on Invasive Species Workshop on April 14

POULSBO – Western Washington University on the Peninsulas is partnering with Washington State University Extension’s Kitsap County Noxious Weed Control Program and the City of Poulsbo’s Tree Board to offer a workshop on controlling invasive species from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 14 at Olympic College Poulsbo. 

The one-day workshop provides initial training and certification for pesticide applicators, dealers, consultants and structural pest inspectors. The workshop will:

• Educate participants on proper pesticide/herbicide use;
• Prepare participants for the Pesticide Applicator License exam.

Instruction and materials will be provided by Washington State University extension. Upon completion of the course, participants may opt to take the exam to qualify for the Pesticide Applicator License.

The cost for the workshop is $35 for the public, or $10 for students with a valid college ID.  For those choosing to take the exam, an additional fee of $25 is due on-site. Annual license fees vary.

The workshop will be held in room 220 at Olympic College Poulsbo, located at 1000 Olympic College Way, Poulsbo, and runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with the exam from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Lunch is not provided; participants are encouraged to bring their own.
