We’ve got caps and gowns, but we need you – helpers, graduates and faculty
December 2022 Commencement Ceremonies will be held on Saturday, Dec. 10, with three ceremonies scheduled by colleges at 10 a.m., 1 p.m., and 4 p.m.
Commencement Helpers – We need you!
The Commencement Helper interest form is available until 9 am on Friday, December 2. Helpers can be staff, faculty, students, or community members. There are options for compensation from volunteering your time to pay through a temporary position on the Commencement Team or via approval from your supervisor – earning comp time or overtime pay from your current department. We have jobs and shifts available from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
What would you be doing? Would you like to help our guests feel welcome? Help distribute caps and gowns? Help students line up? Help guests with disability accommodations get from the parking lot to Carver as the golf cart driver? Help our photographer get the student paired with their scanner card? Help reset the stage during or between ceremonies? Help tear down the stage after the last ceremony?
The theme here is help. We need and want your help! Let us know your availability via the Commencement Ceremony Helpers Interest Form. December Commencement is a great time to scope out helping opportunities for June Commencement!
Faculty Invitations:
The Faculty invitation is open until 9 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 2. Please complete the participation form if you’d like to participate in the faculty procession. Faculty can select 1-3 ceremonies to participate, and regalia is available to borrow from the Commencement Team, if needed, simply indicate the need when submitting the participation form.
Student Invitations:
Summer 2022 graduates, Fall 2022 pending graduates, and Returning Alums (March 2020-June 2021) have all been sent invitations and the reservation deadlines have passed. If a student is interested in walking but missed the deadline, please contact the Commencement Team for assistance. We have room for more graduates to participate and plenty of seats for your guests as well!
For students who have submitted a reservation, please remember to pick up your regalia and keep your eye on your WWU email for line-up information.
