Volunteers needed for October 24 Compass 2 Campus Tour Day

After a 4 year pause, Compass 2 Campus is very excited to bring back Tour Day to Campus! On Tuesday, October 24th, 2023, we will be again hosting over 1,000 5th graders from our partner schools to learn more about college and higher education opportunities.  This event is a kick-off for the 5th grade students who connect with mentors from 5th-12th grade as part of our C2C Service Learning courses.

Involvement from faculty and staff truly makes this event special for our 5th grade guests.

We are asking you to consider helping us with this fun and impactful event on campus. Our goal for Tour Day is to build a sense of belonging on a college campus for low-income and BIPOC 5th grade students and connect them to college student mentors. Students will get to experience several locations on campus throughout the day, with many different interesting topics that show what you can learn in college or what is available to college students.

Involvement from faculty and staff truly makes this event special for our 5th grade guests. This year, we invite the entire university community to help or participate! While many staff and faculty have already offered to host a 30 minute session, we would like to include staff and faculty in other roles to support this event, including leading a group of 5th grade students on campus, providing directions or support for strategic locations on campus, lunch help, set up or take down.

Tour Day is a kick-off for the 5th grade students who connect with WWU mentors.
