Visiting Artist Lecture: Robert Hardgrave May 2

Seattle Artist Robert Hardgrave will speak about his regenerative work and process in a visiting artist lecture on from 4-5 p.m. on Tuesday, May 2, in Miller Hall 138. A genius at recycling and repurposing in painting, Hardgrave makes large works on paper composed largely of transferred imagery. He also makes small paintings on paper pulp made from the waste of his image transfer processes.

Born in Oxnard, California, Robert Hardgrave has made a significant contribution to visual arts in the Pacific Northwest for over a decade. A finalist for the 2014 and 2016 Cornish College of the Arts Neddy Award in Painting and nominee for the 2014 Portland Art Museum’s Contemporary Northwest Arts Awards. Hardgrave has exhibited in numerous solo and group shows in Seattle, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Denver, Chicago, New York, and Madrid, Spain. Locally, Robert is a member of the Duwamish River Residency, and his work is part of the permanent collections of Microsoft, Starbucks, King County and the Achenbach Foundation for Graphic Arts. Robert currently has a solo exhibition at Studio e in Seattle, WA.

Robert's visit is sponsored by the Department of Art and Art History in the College of Fine and Performing Arts.
