UT's Marisol Lebron to keynote first-ever 'Creando Puentes/Creating Bridges' symposium April 27

Western Washington University's Latin American Studies and American Cultural Studies programs, in conjunction with the President's Office and Provost's Office, will host "Creating Bridges/Creando Puentes: Critical Conversations on Latinidades at Western and Beyond" on April 27 and 29.

Creando Puentes/Creating Bridges is a cross-campus symposium to discuss and raise awareness of the diversity of Latinidades in our local communities and across borders.

On Tuesday, April 27 at 3 p.m., the symposium will host its keynote address, "Debt Colonialism and the Politics of Rage in Puerto Rico" by Marisol Lebrón, assistant professor in the Department of Mexican American and Latina/o Studies at the University of Texas at Austin, whose research focuses on social inequality, policing, violence, and protest. This event is free and open to the public.
